Media Access Control (MAC)

Any device that communicates over a IEEE 802 network must have a Media Access Control (MAC) address which uniquely identifies it and enables connection to the physical layer of the system. For large companies, assigning and tracking these identifiers to each and every device they produce can be a headache. For small companies it can get very expensive. The EUI-48

MAC Address chip offers a solution that is both easy to implement and cost effective. Pre-programmed with the device physical network addresses, the EUI-48 MAC address chip enables designers to add embedded communication capability to their designs without the hassle and expense of purchasing, serializing, and programming chips on their own. Codes can be purchased only when they are needed and there are no volume restrictions.

The address information is write protected to ensure permanence…and the whole solution is priced at less than $0.25 per in volume. Works in 64-bit MAC address devices, as well.
